Heinrich Boell Foundation Brandenburg (Germany)


The Heinrich Boell Foundation Brandenburg e.V. organises and promotes events of political and cultural education with the objective of supporting democratic decision-making processes and socio-political engagement on regional, supraregional and international level.

The foundations’ engagement especially gears towards the following convictions and aims: promotion of a debate about a social policy oriented to ecological, social, democratic and non-violent principles as well as oriented to the principles of gender democracy; promotion of local and regional action, that considers horizontal networking and global relationships; prevention of the ongoing destruction of all natural resources, the promotion of ecological transformation of society as well as the promotion of arts and culture as expressions of society’s self-conception and independent spheres of reflexion.

Since summer 2008, Heinrich-Boell-Foundation Brandenburg e.V. is coordinator of the ATLANTIS-network - a loose union of European institutions engaged in the artistic and cultural sector -and initiated as such the European projects “Atlantis. Hidden Histories – New Identities. European Art 20 Years after the Iron Curtain” as well as "HEICO - Heritage, Identity and Communication in Contemporary European Art Practices" and the current project „REALISE_The Resilience of Art in Liquid Crises“.

Furthermore the Heinrich-Boell-Foundation Brandenburg e.V. administrates Rohkunstbau, an international contemporary art festival in the German county of Brandenburg.
